It looks okay, but I'm having a hard time figuring out who the leads are, I'm leaning towards everybody being supporting. Naomi Watts looks most promising.
i think naomi watts looks most promising as well. but i think this may be a somewhat disjointed narrative, like traffic, that has only loosely related characters. this would lean towards the supporting for everyone theory.
Looks like a very interesting film, but one which I'll need to hear more about in the future. Having said that, the performances all look top-notch, specifically Naomi Watts. I'm anticipating hearing more from this film.
I will say that the film is being produced by Cha Cha Cha is a positive sign (as "Rudo y Cursi" was truly enjoyable). That doesn't tell us anything about the film's awards potential, but I do think that's a positive indicator about the quality here. It will also be interesting to see what happens in the fall with this film being distributed by Sony Pictures Classics and Cha Cha Cha's other film "Biutiful" being released by Focus Features. If anything, that information must say that someone somewhere with some level of power and influence sees both of these films as serious Awards contenders.
But then again, someone at Fox Searchlight thought "Amelia" would be an Oscar juggernaut.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

ReplyDeleteAgreed everyone on the acting, but I'm not 100% sold yet...
ReplyDeleteJoey, I'm in the same boat as you are. Even if the film isn't top-notch, it looks like this is an early contender for some acting awards.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else thinking that is almost looks like an English-language remake of "Case De Los Babys"?
ReplyDeleteI certainly see some similar themes if nothing else.
Thoughts?
Joshua, at this point, merely having a trailer gives it a leg up, though I don't think it'll be a big contender. I've been wrong before though.
ReplyDeleteJackson- Only in the loosest of terms does it seem similar, in that there are mothers and babies involved, but I can see where you'd connect the two.

It's still March, I'm skeptical of everything...
ReplyDeleteBiutiful is being released by Focus Features? I didn't know that. That just made my day.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm agreeing with everyone else, not sold on the movie but the performances look like they have quite a bit of potential.
It does have potential, yes.
ReplyDeleteKerry Washington FYI?
ReplyDeleteIf you meant FYC, then maybe...too early to tell.
ReplyDeleteAnyone knows the song at the end lol I must have ittttt
