  1. I'm surprised that JGL and not Zooey got in for 500 Days, but the surprise Paranormal Activity nod makes up for it...what does everyone else think?

  2. Its interesting what's classified as Independent these days. Is A Serious Man really independent? Can a film with as much backing as Precious (I mean, come on, Oprah produced it) really be called Independent? I think it is interesting how many different films received nominations. Kudos to (500) Days of Summer, Precious and The Messenger. I'm a little shocked that "Adam" was snubbed - but I think I enjoyed that film more than many others.

  3. I'm glad to see Jermaine Clement get a nomination, I have only seen the trailer for Gentleman Broncos but am a big fan of Flight of The Conchords.

Thats the only thing that really surprised me. I knew going into it that the nominations would be all over the place. These awards are probably the most difficult to predict.

  4. How can Crazy Heart be nominated be nominated if still no release?? Am I missing something here?

  5. First off, yes Precious is an indie film, Oprah (and Tyler Perry) signed on as executive producers well after the film was made, after it came out at Sundance. They didn't produce it, so it's an indie film...

  8. It was already screened for them, just like I saw Everybody's Fine today, and saw Creation last month which isn't out till next year...if you're a critic or a voter, you've seen everything out this year looking for nods, short of Avatar

  9. So to be a critic is the thing then I guess, if ur not a voter or an actor! haha.. thanks Joey!
