The Awards Circuit Staff puts out their annual top 10 lists!

Yes, and this is a great opportunity to see what the year was like in film for each of us, especially John Foote and Jackson Truax, our newest Staff Writers. As for the Senior Staff Writers and our editor Clayton, some of the choices should be obvious to astute readers, but their should be some surprises as well. The list is here, but this is what came in at number one for each staff member:

Clayton: The Hurt Locker
Joey: Up in the Air
Myles: Inglourious Basterds
Keith: A Prophet
John: Up
Jackson: Nine

-Thoughts on each list?

  11. Jackson's #1 of the year was Nine?? Well, he certainly can't be accused of "following the crowd."

  12. I can't believe Clayton was the only one that really liked Avatar.

    My Top 10 goes

I find Jackson's list the most interesting, because I disagree with almost all of them but can see reasoning behind the choices. Intriguing. Good choices all around though, guys.

And The White Ribbon hasn't opened near me yet. Am I the only one who was completely let down by Doctor Parnassus? Just curious...

  15. I thought it was a let down, but I still thought it was a good flick. Just one that could have been better...

    ReplyDelete
  16. I felt like Parnassus dragged a lot in the first hour, which could have been due to the filmmakers wanting to use as much Heath Ledger footage as possible. That's purely speculation, but how i felt nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree. A lot of Ledger's work screamed "deleted scenes" to me...

  18. I absolutely hated Parnassus, so you're not alone in not liking it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It strikes me as a potentially divisive movie...

    ReplyDelete
  20. I didn't necessarily hate it, I thought the visuals were quite impressive which allowed the second half of the movie to flow quite well. I just thought the first half ruined it for me. All in all I felt like it was about a 5 out of 10 for me.

  21. Avatar was in my top 25. The script was lacking, and I thought most of the characters were one dimensional.

  22. Must say YET AGAIN of Staff Top 10s, Joey's is my fav. I'm actually beyond disappointed that (500) Days of Summer is out of the running in almost all it's categories. Personally my fav of 09.
